How he got here:

R2: Diego Schwartzman

R3: (30) Andreas Seppi

R4: Jack Sock

Possible path to title:

QF: (9) Berdych

SF: (3) Nadal

F: (1) Djokovic / (4) Murray

Chance at Championship:

Federer was unfairly criticized after his early loss at the Australian Open. The tennis world has come to expect consistent greatness and Federer usually complies. He has answered his critics brilliantly. Don’t look now, but the world No.2 has an 11-1 record with two titles already on his 2015 mantle. Federer also had his revenge easily dispatching Seppi, who gave him the only loss on the year.

Federer will be well-reasted for his quarterfinal bout with Berdych. Jack Sock was not able to muster any challenge for him on Wednesday. Berdych has beaten Federer six times overall and is actually leading the head-to-head 5-4 since 2010. Federer played superb tennis to take the title in Dubai, but Berdych seems to have his number of late.
