More from Opinion

R2: Vasek Pospisil

R3: (26) Philipp Kohlschreiber

R4: Adrain Mannarino

Possible path to title:

QF: (12) Lopez

SF: (1) Djokovic

F: (2) Federer (3) Nadal

Chance at Championship:

Fans have gotten used to the ups and downs with Murray. This year’s roller coaster ride saw him reach the finals at the Australian Open, but lose early in a couple ATP 500 events. On hard courts, Murray is hard to beat.

Lopez is a tough matchup for Murray. The big lefty serve can be handled by the Murray backhand, but the relentless pressure to hit big passing shots and stay in long rallies can fluster the weak minded. Murray’s mental state will decide the winner of his quarterfinal match. After that, not many would pick him to achieve revenge against Djokovic for the loss in Melbourne, thus necessitating only a No.3 ranking on this list.
