ATP Miami: Fourth Round Preview and Predictions
ATP Miami: Fourth Round Preview and Predictions
With all the fourth round matches at the ATP Miami Masters being played out on Tuesday, we cast our eyes over who we think will progress the quarter final stage. The order of play has been announced and we are set to be treated to some close matches over the course of the day in Miami.
Yesterdays headline came in the form of American John Inser beating Grigor Dimitrov, an upset that on paper would have been difficult to predict. But Isner showed once again the he can produce in front of a home crowd, winning in straight sets.
The tournament in Miami has seen it’s fair share of upsets to this points and often that theme can permeate through the entire event. Once one or two players score an upset against one of the higher seeds, the belief can run through the rest of the draw.
Tuesday 31st Schedule
STADIUM
Start 11:00 am
[8] Tomas Berdych (CZE) v [17] Gael Monfils (FRA)
This will be a close match if Berdych doesn’t bring his A game and after his struggled against Tomic, if might suggest he is not at his best. Monfils is possibly the hardest player to predict on the men’s tour. He could turn up locked in and win the match, but when he is faced with quality opponents his mind can wander. Berdych in 3 sets
Not Before 2:00 pm
[15] Kevin Anderson (RSA) v [3] Andy Murray (GBR)
Murray has built a reputation for being one of the best returners in the world and the windy conditions will prevent Anderson from getting enough first serves in play to make is close. Nonetheless, the South African is good enough to capitalise if Murray has one of those bizarre off days. Murray in 2
[1] Novak Djokovic (SRB) v Alexandr Dolgopolov (UKR)
This will be a great match for the neutral, although maybe not for Dolgopolov fans. The Ukranian likes to use variety to unsettle opponents, but Djokovic is the most level headed player out there and will probably relish the tactical duel. Djokovic in 2
Not Before 9:00 pm
John Isner (USA) v [5] Milos Raonic (CAN)

Another thrilling match up where the Stadium court is sure to be rocking. Isner played great to get past Dimitrov, whilst Raonic was shaky in his win in round three. Their respective forms heading into the match make it very even and I expect nothing but tie breaks. Raonic in 3
GRANDSTAND
Start 10:50 am
[28] Adrian Mannarino (FRA) v Dominic Thiem (AUT)
Mannarino has been playing really well of late and his slightly unorthodox style is proving difficult to handle in the windy conditions of Miami. Thiem is also on the rise and will be sensing a great chance to make a Masters quarter final. Mannarino in three
Juan Monaco (ARG) v [29] Fernando Verdasco (ESP)
Monaco will be glad that he is not facing Nadal on the other side of the net and his game matches up well to the aggression that Verdasco brings to the court. I though the Spaniard still looked inconsistent in his win over Nadal and could undo much of his hard work. Monaco in three
Not Before 2:30 pm
Gilles Simon (FRA) v [6] David Ferrer (ESP)
Not the most attractive match on paper, expect some lengthy rallies and patient points between two of the best counter punchers in world tennis. Simon looks like a new man in 2015, but he Ferrer is simply a better and more experienced version of the Frenchman. Ferrer in two
Not Before 5:00 pm
[4] Kei Nishikori (JPN) v [18] David Goffin (BEL)
Nishikori is due a big tournament the matches with his rising stock in world tennis and he should have enough to deal with Goffin. The Beglian does everything well, but has nothing outstanding that will threaten Nishikori, who continues to add power to his ground strokes. Nishikori in two
