Can you ever write off a player with the quality of play and relentless fighting spirit that Maria Sharapova possesses?

I most certainly am not. After reaching the final in Melbourne, where she was taken down in straight sets by Williams, the Russian appeared to be on her way to a second successive major final in France until she was eliminated by the in-form Lucie Safarova in the last-16 of Roland Garros.

It has been an inconsistent year for the 2004 winner, but you can rest assured that she will be hungry as ever to claim her second title at the All England Club in July.
