Ekaterina Makarova
Ekaterina Makarova has been very consistent over the last couple of months.
A semi-final appearance at the US Open in late 2014 was followed by an identical finish in Melbourne in January. She didn’t get quite as far in the French earlier this month, but a respectable fourth round showing shouldn’t have done anything to lower her confidence.
The Russian has leapt into the top eight of the rankings this year and is able to play without any pressure, so she should not be taken lightly.
