There are only a handful of players who seem anywhere near capable of beating Serena to the Wimbledon title, with a mixture of those who have done well in previous editions of the tournament and those who are currently in great form.
It must be remembered that it was three years ago when Williams last won at SW19, so her favourite status is hardly the same as Rafael Nadal going into Roland Garros at the height of his clay court prowess.
However, the American is arguably enjoying the best period of her illustrious career so far. Three Slams on the bounce, and perhaps most dauntingly she lifted the French Open trophy despite being ill for the majority of a competition that is played on by far and away her least favourite surface.
Others are capable of winning the Wimbledon title in just over two weeks’ time, but it is still very hard to see past the evergreen Serena Williams.
