5. Agnieszka Radwanska (WTA Ranking: 7)

The WTA’s resident counterpuncher had rough hard and clay court seasons. And then along came the grass court season. Radwanska had a few strong results in Nottingham and Eastbourne, reaching the semifinal and final, respectively. Even still, with Petra Kvitova and Simona Halep in her section of the draw, few predicted that the Pole would venture deep into the second week of the tournament.

That’s exactly what Aga did. Simply exemplary throughout the first week, Radwanska looked in fine form to find her way into the final. She lost a match in the semifinals that, had a few points ended differently, she could have very easily won.

And so, the quest for that elusive grand slam title continues. But if she plays with the precision and variety that have aided her throughout the past month, she may yet capture one of those monstrous trophies.
