The expert of grinding out matches and willing victories had a strong showing at Wimbledon, grunting and screeching her way into the semifinal.

And then she met Serena. Again. And lost. Again.

The Russian will always be a contender at every tournament she enters. But she’s ranked number 4 here as she’s incapable of challenging Serena to the same extent that two other woman can.
