2. Victoria Azarenka (WTA Ranking: 19)

Azarenka’s current ranking of 19 doesn’t do justice to the calibre of her play this year, and especially at this year’s Wimbledon. She was outstanding throughout the first four rounds, striking winners from all over the court and keeping the number of double faults (aka Vika’s kryptonite) to a minimum.

And if it weren’t for a particular history-seeking American, the Venus Rosewater Dish would most likely be in her possession right now. Vika played flawlessly to take the first set in the best match of the tournament, and although she fell in three sets, pushing Serena to play vintage tennis in a Wimbledon quarterfinal is no mean feat.

Even with a quarterfinal showing, Vika looks fit to challenge Serena at the US Open and potentially demolish the American’s hopes of claiming her first grand slam.
