It is tough to pick anyone but Serena Williams for this category as she managed to win major number 21 and her sixth Wimbledon title. However, there were several times during the event where despite her win, Serena didn’t look at the top of her game. A few other ladies stood out during the tournament.

Venus Williams made a strong run during the tournament before bowing out to her sister in the fourth round. The five-time Wimbledon champion looked more comfortable in England than she has anywhere recently. Another notable performance came off Maria Sharapova’s racket, as she made the semifinals for the first time since losing to Petra Kvitova in the 2011 final.

Despite the performances of the previously mentioned women, the top lady at the tournament must be Garbine Muguruza. Her previous best performance at a slam is the French where she made the quarterfinals; but clay is without a doubt her best surface, which makes this run even more impressive. Lastly, Murguruza is just 21 and is playing strong, aggressive tennis; she has a bright future ahead of her.

The worst female is without a doubt Genie Bouchard had the worst tournament, losing in the first round. The Canadian made the finals in 2014, as well as the semifinals in Australia and Paris. The 21-year-old is struggling terribly this year, however, everyone is bound to have a rough year. She will bounce back with another solid season in 2016.
. Writer. Lob and Smash. BRANDON ROERTGEN. 5
