Jo Wilfried Tsonga as Samwell Tarly

It is human nature to root for the nice guy and both Samwell Tarly and Jo Wilfried Tsonga have earned a lot of fans down the years for being genuine and likeable. Criticisms of Tarly are that he is not a strong and battle hardened as he ought to be, despite having some infamous encounters with White Walkers.

Things are much the same in the career of Tsonga, who gained a fearsome reputation for his accomplishments in the 2008 Australian Open. Since then, despite being entirely loveable, he has not really lived up to the billing as a giant killer on the big stage.

Nonetheless, his importance in the big moments is clear. Whilst he may not be feared as much by his compatriots, he is clearly well liked. For Tarly, suspicions over his effectiveness is battle remains, but the rest of the Nights Watch certainly seem to have a soft spot for him.
