Roger Federer’s knee injury makes the list. The first really serious injury of Federer’s career, it kept him out of Indian Wells. He was primed to come back at the Miami Open but ended up not being able to come back due to an intestinal bug.

I think the big idea here is that Federer is injured for the first time in his career where it kept him out of a few tournaments.

Injuries like this may cause a sometimes temporary drop in form.  With Novak Djokovic tearing up tennis the way he is, Federer really can’t afford a big drop in form.  Even in good form, Federer had a very difficult time beating Djokovic in 2015.  Now it could be even harder, which isn’t a good sign for Federer’s chances of winning another major.  He still can but he probably has to get lucky and never face Djokovic.
