Serena Williams wins “only” one major.

This pick may seem a bit risky.  But she hasn’t won a title yet this season, although she has finished as runner-up twice.  I don’t mean to say that she’s lost a ton in the way of form but it seems like it will be just a little bit tougher for her to repeat her epic year of 2015.

Even if she’s not quite as good as she was last season, I see no reason why she shouldn’t be able to win one title at a major.  After all, she is still the best player on the women’s tour.

She would have won the title in Australia except Angelique Kerber played an unbelievable match, one of the very best of her career.  Without that, Williams already has a title.  So I don’t think we should be hugely concerned about Serena.  But I don’t think it’s fair to expect her to repeat 2015 again.
