Roger Federer: don’t call it a comeback, Federer back in the top 10

Roger Federer is the talk of tennis. The 35-year-old tennis superstar is making a play for a top position on the ATP World Tour.

The 35-year-old Swiss tennis player is arguably the greatest to ever play the sport. His 18th Grand Slam singles title came after a 2016 riddled with injury and an offseason filled with recovery and hard work. The hard work paid off.

Federer cracks the top 10 and reaches the world No. 10 ranking on the ATP World Tour after his play at Melbourne Park.

The Swiss tennis player has a perfect start to his 2017 season, going 7-0 in singles matches and earning a Grand Slam title. It doesn’t get any better than that.

The tennis world expected either world No. 1 Andy Murray or Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic to reassert themselves at Melbourne Park. Djokovic saw an early exit and Murray suffered a tough late-round upset at the major tournament, leaving the Australian Open wide open for the taking.

It’s no surprise that two of the sport’s greatest players rose to the occasion. Federer defeated Rafael Nadal in a historic match to earn his 18th Grand Slam singles title. Nadal’s play, however, also showed that he plans to make strong moves in 2017. Nadal is currently ranked No. 6.

Both Federer and Nadal will take the next week off after fantastic play at Melbourne Park. They will miss first round action at the Davis Cup, but there is no doubt that both will be strong contenders in their first tournaments back on tour.

Roger Federer looks as though he can hang with anyone on tour right now. Back in the top 10, look for the Swiss tennis player to be a strong favorite in upcoming tournaments.
