By Harry Floyd
Novak Djokovic is the defending champion at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA. He should be considered the favorite to win next month.
Novak Djokovic is one month away from the BNP Paribas Open.
The tournament in Indian Wells looks as though it will be Nole’s next on the ATP World Tour. In 2016, the Serbian tennis player defeated Milos Raonic, 6–2, 6–0, to take home the title.

Djokovic is looking to bounce back from his early exit at the Australian Open.
After suffering the early round upset in Melbourne Park, Djokovic did win in Serbia’s Davis Cup meeting with Russia. He helped his team advance to the next round of play in the world group.
During his match last week, Djokovic did call upon the trainer when he was experiencing shoulder pain, but it does not appear to be a major issue.
With a bounce back win in Davis Cup play, and the world No. 2 needing to makeup for his early loss at Melbourne Park, he is our favorite to win next month in Indian Wells.
Djokovic will have to contend with all of the top players in men’s singles tennis at the BNP Paribas Open. World No. 1 Andy Murray is set to be there. He finished runner-up to Rafael Nadal at the tournament in 2009.
Djokovic has won the tournament five times since 2008.
Many have questioned Novak Djokovic’s slide from the top position in tennis. Since the second half of 2016, Murray has surged and now the sport is seeing both veterans and younger players rise to the occasion. Djokovic, however, remains focused on his play and is one of the fiercest players on tour. He must be considered a favorite in any match he plays.
Next month at Indian Wells is a chance for the Serbian to redeem his reputation and remind men’s tennis that he is here to win in 2017.
