Last week, Dimitrov won the finals match over Goffin, 7-5, 6-4. The world No. 11 is hoping to do it again. If he can advance past Goffin, the semifinals will not get any easier.
All of the top six seeded players at the Rotterdam Open are among the remaining eight playing in quarterfinals action. Top seeded Marin Cilic is set to face French tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The lowest ranking remaining player is Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The world No. 109 is going for an upset over world No. 8 Dominic Thiem. He is the last remaining qualifier in action at the tournament. Herbert is also still alive in doubles action at the tournament. While Thiem has struggled in recent weeks, he is the clear favorite to advance past Herbert in men’s singles.
One of the exciting second round matches was between Tomas Berdych and Richard Gasquet. The two players are among the best in the world. Berdych is the No. 4 seeded player this week and he lived up to his ranking, advancing past Gasquet 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. He now takes on Martin Klizan in the quarterfinals.
