Several other top ranked players round out the field. The defending champion at the tournament is Thiem who is also coming off of a win at the Rio Open last week. Nadal is also a former champion in Acapulco.
Djokovic looks to start gearing up for Roland Garros which is just two months away. After his slide from the world No. 1 position in late 2016, the Serbian has appeared out of sorts on tour. The Mexican Open is a chance for Novak Djokovic to regain his confidence while playing against some of the best in the sport.
