Auckland was Sock’s first tournament of 2017. The young tennis player faced fellow American Ryan Harrison to start the tournament. Sock won a hard fought first set, dropped a second, then cruised to a 6-1 victory in the third.

He would continue to show poise on the court in Auckland, advancing to a finals match with Joao Sousa. Sock took the finals match and the title, winning 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

Sock then went into Melbourne Park. The young American won his first two matches in straight sets before dropping a third round match to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The third round appearance is the furthest that he has ever advanced at the Grand Slam event.

The Delray Beach Open would prove to be an interesting tournament for Sock. The young American did not drop a single set throughout the entire tournament. He also defeated fellow countryman Steve Johnson for the second time in 2017. Sock would reach a finals match with top seeded player Milos Raonic.

Sock took the title in Delray Beach without a finals match occurring. Raonic withdrew due to a hamstring injury, giving Jack Sock his second ATP singles title in 2017.

Now, the 24-year-old American tennis player faces Yoshihito Nishioka to kick off his play at the 2017 Mexican Open on Tuesday. Sock is the No. 7 seed in the tournament and is playing amongst the likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. If Sock can continue his streak of fantastic play in Acapulco, he will quickly become one of the top players to watch in 2017. Men’s singles tennis must recognize the strong play of Sock who is now the world No. 18.
