Rafael Nadal is moving forward after his finals loss at the 2017 Australian Open. The 14-time Grand Slam singles winner is in action at the Mexican Open.

Rafael Nadal is in his first competitive ATP singles tournament since Melbourne Park.

After his tough finals loss to Swiss tennis superstar Roger Federer, Nadal appears in fine form at the 2017 Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco, Mexico.

Nadal took his first match in straight sets. He defeats Mischa Zverev, winning 6-4, 6-3.

The Spanish tennis player then moved on, facing Italian Paolo Lorenzi in the round of 16 at the Mexican Open. Nadal, utilizing the momentum from his tournament opener never let up against Lorenzi. He wins his second match in Acapulco 6-1, 6-1.

Nadal is the current world No. 6. He is also one of the greatest to ever play the sport of tennis. His reaching a finals match at this year’s Australian Open is proof that the 30-year-old is not going away anytime soon.

The world No. 6 will have to contend with the likes of numerous other top 10 men’s singles players if he hopes to reach glory in Acapulco. The way he is playing, however, is right where he needs to be. Rafael Nadal appears determined to win both on and off the court this week.

Also in action is world No. 2 Novak Djokovic. He faces Juan Martin del Potro in his next match. Djokovic and Nadal must contend with the likes of Marin Cilic, Dominic Thiem, Nick Kyrgios, and a variety of other top men’s singles tennis players in Acapulco. The field is competitive this week at the 2017 Mexican Open.
