The Serbian tennis player has five titles at Indian Wells. He is also the three-time defending champion. He and Federer both have gone on three-time title streaks at the tournament.
Indian Wells 2017 is a chance for Federer to continue his dominance over the sport of tennis. He is already considered among the greatest, if not the greatest, men’s singles player in history. With his 18th career singles Grand Slam win earlier this year, Federer is back on the forefront of everyone’s minds.
The field is competitive at the BNP Paribas Open.
On top of Djokovic, world No. 1 Andy Murray is coming off of a win at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. While he has a strong lead in the ATP singles rankings, there is no doubt that he is seeking to widen the gap between he and Djokovic.
Roger Federer is 52-11 at Indian Wells throughout his career. Over the course of his three consecutive titles, the Swiss player compiled an 18 match winning streak. Djokovic is currently in the middle of his own winning streak with 17 consecutive matches.
If Federer can dig into his veteran experience, he must be considered a favorite to win the tournament. Others such as Djokovic will be right behind him, but look for the Swiss great to be on top of his game this week at Indian Wells and then again soon after in Miami.
