Bouchard is fresh off of a quarterfinals birth at Indian Harbour Beach. The 2-1 performance at the ITF tournament was big for Bouchard. Prior to Indian Harbour, the Canadian tennis player had seen four straight first round exits in WTA action.
Now, Bouchard has some momentum going into Istanbul.
Along with Svitolina, another player to watch is Timea Babos. The Hungarian tennis player has one title already on the year. She is the second seeded player in Istanbul. In February, she won the Hungarian Ladies Open. Babos is the current world No. 30.
Eugenie Bouchard opens the tournament against Jana Cepelova. At 6-7 on the year, Cepelova is the current world No. 97 in women’s singles tennis. Looking at their career head-to-head, Bouchard is 1-0 against Cepelova. She is the clear favorite to win her opening round match at Istanbul. While Bouchard is just 7-8 in 2017, Istanbul is a chance at redemption. She will look to take advantage of her seeding at the tournament.
Stay tuned to see how Eugenie Bouchard fares in Istanbul. Her first round match takes place on Tuesday. Looking forward to the rest of the week, Svitolina is in action on Wednesday. Check back at Lob and Smash to see how the action unfolds in Istanbul.
