Agnieszka Radwanska sees a shocking upset in her opening round match at the 2017 Stuttgart Open. She was the tournament’s seventh seeded player.

Agnieszka Radwanska is the current world No. 8 in women’s singles tennis.

She sees a shocking upset in her opening round match at the 2017 Stuttgart Open. In her first round match, the world No. 8 faced Ekaterina Makarova.

The Russian tennis player upsets Radwanska in straight sets. She wins the match 6-2, 6-4.

It is a major win for the 28-year-old Russian tennis player. She is the current world No. 43 in women’s singles tennis. With a record of 8-8 in WTA singles action in 2017, Makarova could be an interesting underdog at Stuttgart.

Some big players to watch are Angelique Kerber, Maria Sharapova, Simona Halep and Svetlana Kuznetsova among others. Kuznetsova, Makarova’s fellow countrywoman, is a former champion at the tournament. She saw a first round win to advance in the tournament.

With 20 career WTA singles titles for Agnieszka Radwanska, the world No. 8 is yet to win one in 2017. She will have to bounce back from the tough loss at Stuttgart. The French Open is just weeks away and there is no doubt that she will remain competitive in the weeks to come.
