Eugenie Bouchard is hitting her stride at the Mutua Madrid Open. After a rocky start to the year, the Canadian tennis player is back on track.
Eugenie Bouchard is back on track in 2017.
The former world No. 5 is in need of a strong year on tour. Her play at Madrid is proving that 2017 can still be a largely successful year for Bouchard.

She defeats top seeded Angelique Kerber in her third match at the Madrid Open. In the round of 16, Bouchard wins 6-3, 5-0.
The top seeded Kerber retired from the match down 5-0 in the second the set due to a left thigh injury. Up next for the Canadian tennis star is eighth seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Eugenie Bouchard has defeated the likes of Alize Cornet, Maria Sharapova, and now Angelique Kerber at the 2017 Mutua Madrid Open. She fought hard to take down both Cornet and Sharapova. The win over Sharapova was particularly interesting given Bouchard’s recent comments on the Russian’s return to WTA action.
Genie Bouchard is poised to reassert herself as a player to beat on the WTA Tour.
The Canadian is into the quarterfinals at Madrid. The highest seeded player remaining is Simona Halep. The world No. 8 defeats Coco Vandeweghe of the United States in their quarterfinals meeting. Halep wins in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
Look for Bouchard to continue surging this week in Madrid. Her quarterfinals match is late Thursday afternoon. It is the final of the four quarterfinals matches for women’s singles at the tournament.
