Simona Halep is poised to win a Grand Slam title. With the French Open approaching, she is playing fantastic tennis at just the right time.

Simona Halep is fresh of a win at the Madrid Open.

Now, the Romanian tennis star is into the semifinals in Rome. As the current world No. 4, she is set to make a run at Roland Garros in the coming weeks.

The win in Madrid was the first WTA title in 2017 for Halep. She may very well have a chance at another title at the Italian Open if she can continue her high level of play.

Simona Halep defeats Anett Kontaveit in straight sets at the Italian Open quarterfinals. She takes the match 6-2, 6-4.

The major upcoming tournament, however, is the French Open.

Halep made a finals appearance at Roland Garros in 2014. The tournament marked her first ever WTA singles Grand Slam final. Still though, she is no stranger to the big stage at Roland Garros. The Romanian tennis star is a former junior champion at the major tournament.

As she continues to string together a winning streak across the Madrid and Italian Opens, Halep is setting herself up for success at Roland Garros 2017.

Women’s singles tennis might be providing the perfect opportunity for Simona Halep.

With world No. 1 Angelique Kerber out of sorts lately, the world No. 4 can make a move. American superstar Serena Williams will miss time due to her pregnancy, leaving even more room for growth for the likes of Halep and other top players.

Stay tuned to see how the Romanian tennis player fares in the coming weeks.
