Jack Sock is on a roll so far in 2017. He falls unexpectedly, however, in the first round of action at the French Open.

Jack Sock is the current world No. 15 in men’s singles tennis.

The young American tennis player has surged so far on the 2017 ATP World Tour. With two titles on the year already, he was poised to make a run at Roland Garros.

Sock, however, falls short, losing in the first round of play to Jiri Vesely.

The Czech tennis player takes the first round match in straight sets. He defeats Sock, winning 7-5, 7-5, 6-3. Vesely moves on and will face Aljaž Bedene in the round of 64.

Unlike Jack Sock’s unfortunate performance, John Isner rose to the occasion in his first round match. The veteran American tennis star wins his opener against Jordan Thompson of Australia. Isner takes the match in four sets to advance. He faces Paolo Lorenzi on Thursday.

Isner is searching for his first ever Grand Slam singles title.

He reached the fourth round of action at Roland Garros in both 2014 and 2016. Currently, Isner is the world No. 22 in men’s singles tennis. The road will not get any easier at the 2017 French Open.

As for Jack Sock, he will look to rebound from the early exit at Roland Garros. For now, however, several other top seeds in men’s singles remain alive at the 2017 French Open. Stay tuned to see how the action unfolds.
