Murray takes down Klizan in the second round of action at Roland Garros. The world No. 1 took four sets to earn the victory. He wins 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
For Del Potro, he advances after his opponent retired in the third set. He is the 29th seeded player this year at the French Open and has veteran experience on tour. Murray will be a heavy favorite in the match. With that said, nothing is guaranteed on the major stage that is Roland Garros.
Murray is seeking his first ever title at the Grand Slam.
The world No. 1 reached the finals at Roland Garros in 2016. He fell to now defending champion Novak Djokovic. The Serbian tennis star is still alive at the 2017 French Open. Up next for Djokovic in the round of 32 is Diego Schwartzman.
Even with his one ATP title on the year, Andy Murray is in need of a successful run at Roland Garros. He is 16-7 in singles matches this year. In order to maintain his hold on the world No. 1 position, he must go deep into the tournament.
With the surging Rafael Nadal too, Murray would do well to finally reach glory at the major tournament. Nadal is a nine-time winner at the French Open. Stay tuned to see how Andy Murray fares against Juan Martin del Potro.
