Haas is the current world No. 302 in men’s singles tennis. Don’t let that ranking fool you.
The veteran German tennis player is a former world No. 2 and has 15 ATP singles titles to his name. He is no stranger to big matches.
Having faced Federer many times before, Haas has now managed four wins over the Swiss superstar. It comes as Federer returns from a significant rest after the first half of the year.
Up next for Tommy Haas is fellow countryman Mischa Zverev.
The loss is no reason for Federer to be concerned.
While the first half of his year was brilliant, he has been off the court for two months. After an Australian Open win followed by further success on tour, the Swiss tennis star took time to rest, recover, and practice for the second half of 2017.

There is no doubt that Federer remains a player to beat on the ATP World Tour.
With the grass season underway, Federer looks to make a run at a potential ninth Wimbledon title. The 39-year-old Haas becomes just the second player to beat Federer on the year. He looks to continue his fine play at the 2017 Stuttgart Open. With the top seed now out of the mix, anything can happen in the coming days.
