Caroline Wozniacki: why the former world No. 1 can win Wimbledon

She would lose a hard fought match to eventual champion Jelena Ostapenko. The loss kept her from another chance at a Grand Slam title. Now, she prepares for Wimbledon.

The former world No. 1 in women’s singles tennis has reached the fourth round at Wimbledon several times. Most recently, she made a fourth round appearance in 2015.
The second half of 2016 through the current 2017 WTA calendar has revealed a resurgence for Wozniacki. In 2017, she has seen three finals matches along with multiple other deep tournament runs. She seems poised to win a title.
Wozniacki’s biggest opponent at Wimbledon may very well be Simona Halep. After dropping the title at Roland Garros to Ostapenko, Halep is also searching for a Grand Slam.

World No. 1 Angelique Kerber has struggled in 2017 so far. Players such as Caroline Wozniacki stand to take advantage of the current shakeups in women’s singles. The Danish tennis star is currently the world No. 6 in women’s singles tennis.
Going into Wimbledon, Wozniacki will play in the Eastbourne International. She is a former winner at the tournament, earning the title in 2009.
