Kvitova defeats Johanna Larsson in straight sets in her opening match. She wins 6-3, 6-4.
In late 2016, the two-time Grand Slam winner suffered an injury to her left hand. Her home was broken into and the intruder attacked Kvitova with a knife. Fortunately for the Czech tennis star, she was able to defend herself and is on the road to recovery.
While she has seen extremely limited action in the past few months, she is no stranger to the big stage at Wimbledon.
Kvitova won the major tournament in both 2011 and 2014. She defeated Maria Sharapova for her first title and then Eugenie Bouchard for the second.
Larsson put up a strong fight in the second set against the Czech tennis star. It was, however, not enough to take down the eleventh seed.
