Victoria Azarenka advances further and further at Wimbledon 2017.
The former world No. 1 would usually be considered a favorite at a major tournament. She is, however, just returning from significant time away following the birth of her son.

Azarenka defeats Elena Vesnina in the second round. She takes the match in straight sets, winning with ease 6-3, 6-3.
The former world No. 1 gave birth to her son Leo in January. There is no doubt that her match with Vesnina is the best performance since her comeback to tennis. Now, one has to consider Azarenka a contender for the women’s singles title.
Seeing success on the 2017 WTA Tour, Vesnina has risen to the world No. 16 ranking in women’s singles. She also has a title on the year, making Azarenka’s win even more impressive.
Up next for the Belarusian tennis star is Heather Watson.
The match with Watson is another huge test for Azarenka. The young British tennis player is into the third round at Wimbledon for the third time in her career. Her most recent match with eighteenth seed Anastasija Sevastova was in many ways flawless.

Watson cruised to a 6-0, 6-4 win over the seeded Sevastova. Now, she has a chance to make the deepest Wimbledon run of her young career. In order to do that though, she will need to take down the veteran Victoria Azarenka.
The tennis world is rejoicing the successful return of Azarenka to the sport. Even if she falls in the third round at Wimbledon 2017, she has already proven herself. Any wins beyond now will be a bonus. If she appears as comfortable as she did in her second round match though, it may not come as much of a surprise if Azarenka continues on at the Grand Slam. After all, she does have two Grand Slam singles titles to her name.
Stay tuned to see how Victoria Azarenka fares throughout the rest of Wimbledon 2017.
