Johanna Konta knocks out one of the favorites for the women’s singles title at Wimbledon. She wins, however, on a point of controversy.

Johanna Konta is into the semifinals at Wimbledon. It is the furthest she has ever advanced at the Grand Slam.

Defeating second seeded Simona Halep in the quarterfinals, the British tennis player appears to have ended the match on a point of controversy.

Nothing is Konta’s fault, but the match against Halep ended with a fan screaming just prior to the second seed hitting the ball into the net. After the scream, it was game, set, match.

With Konta up 40-15 and the third set at 5-4, she won a point off of Halep. The Romanian tennis player seems to hesitate after hearing the fan’s shriek. While sometimes it is customary for the chair umpire to call for a replay of the point, he declared the match complete.

Johanna Konta wins 6-7, 7-6, 6-4.

Up next for the sixth seed is American tennis superstar Venus Williams. The two square off on Thursday.

The quarterfinals exit is disappointing for Halep.

Finishing runner-up at the French Open earlier this year, Wimbledon was another shot for her first ever singles Grand Slam. She will, of course, continue to be one of the player’s to beat on the WTA Tour. Look for Halep to bounce back from the Wimbledon loss.

For Johanna Konta, Wimbledon is a continuation of her success in 2017. On the year, she already has two WTA singles titles. Now, she has a chance to go further at the major tournament and seek a Grand Slam title. At 26-years-old, the British tennis star is now the world No. 7 in women’s singles tennis. Advancing deeper at the Grand Slam will only further her dominance on the 2017 WTA Tour. Stay tuned to see how Johanna Konta fares in the Wimbledon semifinals.
