Roger Federer defeats Marin Cilic for Wimbledon men’s title

Roger Federer has done it again. The Swiss tennis superstar earns yet another Grand Slam singles title at Wimbledon 2017.
Roger Federer wins The Championships, Wimbledon in an impressive three set victory.
The Swiss tennis superstar defeats Marin Cilic in straight sets. Taking the finals match 6-3, 6-1, 6-4, Federer earns his eighth men’s singles title at Wimbledon.

Becoming the favorite after both Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic were eliminated late in the major tournament, Federer never let up.
The finals meeting with Cilic completes a nearly flawless run at Wimbledon. The Swiss tennis player never dropped a single set in his two weeks at the Grand Slam. His most difficult meeting might have been against Tomas Berdych in the semifinals. Berdych took Federer to two tiebreaks but ultimately lost in straight sets.
Roger Federer now has nineteen Grand Slam singles titles.
Without a doubt, Federer is one of the biggest fan favorites on tour.
Even at 35-years-old, the Swiss veteran now has two Grand Slam wins so far in 2017. Starting the year off with a win a the Australian Open, Federer proved that he still has what it takes to be a top player in the sport. Wimbledon is where he’s seen the most success in his career Grand Slams.
With proper scheduling and training, the veteran tennis star appears to be able to compete at the highest of levels.
Look for Roger Federer to continue his dominance on the ATP World Tour. With the US Open less than two months away, the tennis world will need to wait and see how the Swiss superstar approaches the final Grand Slam on the year.
As for Cilic, his run at Wimbledon 2017 was also fantastic. His runner-up finish gives him his first ever finals appearance at the major tournament. He is a former champion at the US Open, so the world No. 6 will look to continue rising in the rankings and make a run at the end of the year.
