Simona Halep leads WTA Race to Singapore rankings

Simona Halep leads the WTA Tour singles Race to Singapore rankings. After a quarterfinals appearance at Wimbledon, she takes the top ranking.
Simona Halep reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon this year. Despite the loss to Johanna Konta, she takes charge in the Race to Singapore.
The end of year WTA Finals is gearing up for a thrilling finish.

In 2014, Halep finished runner-up at the WTA Finals to American superstar Serena Williams. Earlier that same year, the Romanian also reached her first ever Grand Slam singles final.
Now, Simona Halep is aiming to close the year with a win.
As the current world No. 2 in the WTA singles rankings, Halep appears to be one of the top contenders on the year. She has a singles record of 30-9 on the year to go along with one WTA singles title. World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova has three titles in 2017 so far.
After her runner-up finish at Wimbledon, American Venus Williams moved drastically in the Race to Singapore rankings. She advances four positions to the No. 4 spot. Williams is the 2008 winner of the WTA Finals.

Former world No. 1 Angelique Kerber is on the verge of the top ten rankings in the Race to Singapore. After her fourth round exit at Wimbledon, she slipped in the overall WTA singles rankings to No. 3. The major tournament did, however, rise her two spots in the Race to Singapore rankings. She is now in the No. 13 position.
Wimbledon women’s singles champion Garbine Muguruza is No. 3 in the Race to Singapore.
Rising seven positions in the rankings, Muguruza’s Grand Slam win has catapulted her into a strong position for the year end finals. The 23-year-old tennis player reached the semifinals at the end of year tournament in 2015. She is seeking her first ever WTA Finals win.
