Ivo Karlovic sees an unexpected upset in the quarterfinals of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships. The defending champion loses in three sets.

Ivo Karlovic fails to bounce back after his early round Wimbledon upset. As the defending champion at Newport, he came in as the No. 2 seed.

Karlovic drops his quarterfinals match against Peter Gojowczyk. The defending champion loses in three sets 7-6 (5), 6-7 (1), 7-6 (4).

The loss sets up a potential road to the finals for Isner. The American faces fellow countryman Dennis Novikov in his quarterfinals match. Isner is a former champion at the tournament, having won in both 2011 and 2012. He also saw a doubles title in 2008 at Newport.

Ivo Karlovic must remain positive and look ahead after the loss.

Last year at the US Open, the Croatian tennis player reached the fourth round of play. It was the furthest that he had ever advanced at the Grand Slam event. While he remains in search of his first ever Grand Slam title, the veteran tennis player is no stranger to big matches.

With just over one month to go before the 2017 US Open, Ivo Karlovic will look to rebound from his losses at Wimbledon and Newport. He is the current world No. 25 on the ATP World Tour with a record of 11-13 on the year. Seeing some ups and downs so far in 2017, Karlovic is capable of making an unexpected deep run at a major tournament. Even at 38-years-old, Ivo Karlovic cannot be counted out of any match he plays. Just last year, he earned two ATP singles titles on tour. Stay tuned to see how the rest of the action unfolds at the 2017 Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
