Milos Raonic joins the competitive field of players at the 2017 Washington Open. On the women’s side, Simona Halep is featured.

Milos Raonic is the current world No. 9 in men’s singles tennis. He joins an already star-studded field of play at the 2017 Washington Citi Open.

On the men’s side, former champion Gael Monfils looks to rebound from a tough loss at the Croatia Open. Last year, the French tennis star won his sixth career ATP singles title in Washington. If he can defend his title, Monfils will earn his first win on the year.

The road to a title will not be easy. The men’s field also features Grigor Dimitrov, Juan Martin del Potro, Kyle Edmund, John Isner, Kei Nishikori, and Jack Sock to name a few. Several previous champions complete the field.

Milos Raonic is seeking his first title in 2017.

The Washington Open could be a pivotal turning point for Raonic this year. While he does have a singles record of 26-9 on the year, he is yet to win a title. He is coming off of a quarterfinals loss to Wimbledon champion Roger Federer. A win in Washington would do wonders for Raonic leading into the US Open. The 26-year-old Canadian tennis star remains in search of his first Grand Slam. Any momentum he can grab in the coming weeks will help him on his quest for a US Open title. He has reached the fourth round of play at the US Open three times in his career.

Action at the 2017 Washington Open kicks off on Saturday, July 29 at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington, DC. With such a competitive field on both the men’s and women’s sides, there is no doubt that the next week will feature fantastic tennis. Stay tuned to see how the action unfolds at the Washington Open.
