The top seeded American tennis star was the favorite this week at the Atlanta Open. Edmund, however, wins their quarterfinals meeting in fine form.

Edmund defeats Sock in straight sets, taking the match 6-4, 6-1.
Friday action at the 2017 Atlanta Open saw one major shakeup. Of the top five seeds still alive during the quarterfinals, Sock was the only one to fall. As the current world No. 19 in men’s singles tennis, Sock has two titles on the year. He will look to bounce back from the loss in Atlanta.
Kyle Edmund is the current world No. 45 in men’s singles tennis.
The 22-year-old Edmund is the fifth seed this week at the Atlanta Open. He will face American and No. 4 seed Ryan Harrison in the semifinals.
No. 3 seed Gilles Müller takes on former champion John Isner in the other semifinals match at the Atlanta Open. Isner is the No. 2 seed this week at the event. Both semifinals meetings take place on Saturday at the ATP tournament.
Kyle Edmund is seeking his first ever ATP World Tour title this week. A win in Atlanta would be huge for the young British tennis player. Despite his young age, he is the British No. 2 behind superstar Andy Murray. His career high ranking is the world No. 40 position and he could approach that again win a win at the Atlanta Open. Last year, he even reached the fourth round of play at the US Open. With that Grand Slam right around the corner, any momentum he can gather will be important for another deep run there.
