The Bryan brothers strike again, continuing their recent resurgence on the ATP World Tour. As a top men’s doubles team, they win the 2017 Atlanta Open.

It’s not taking things for granted when you’re a top men’s double team in the world. Winning still requires putting the right formula together to defeat any opponent and the Bryan brothers are continuing to do just that.

"“After a tough first-round which we could have lost, I thought we played really well”…It’s always so nice to play in a city that really appreciates doubles. We could feel the love and support all week…” Mike Bryan said on the duo winning the 2017 BB&T Atlanta Open.More from Lob and SmashCaroline Wozniacki gets her wild card for the Australian OpenTennis News: Rafael Nadal, Emma Raducanu and protected rankingsMartina Navratilova: Money lost by coming out was in the ‘millions’Tennis News: Novak Djokovic, Nick Kyrgios and Matteo BerrettiniBoris Becker and Rick Macci bicker over Carlos Alcaraz"

They defeated the team of Wesley Koolhof and Artem Sitak in straight sets. Winning 6-3, 6-4, the Bryan brothers took about an hour to do the job and gain the title. Mike and Bob were winning most of the points on their first serve to really overpower and outsmart their opposing team.

The Georgia tournament must be a lucky one for the Bryans because it was only a few years ago that they won their 107th career title in doubles right there at the Atlanta Open defeating Gilles Muller and Colin Fleming in three sets.

"“We could feel the energy from the crowd…this is one of the best venues in the world and we will be coming back next year”, the Bryans happily had said in 2015."

But the following year was the Rio Olympics in Brazil. There was so much controversy with the environment that they decided to give it a ‘miss’. It seems like they made up for not going out to the South American country because they won three titles earlier in 2016.

There was talk of them growing older and not really being a top contender anymore. The proof was in the performance, however, and they’d win the Houston Open-US Men’s Clay Court Championships, a few weeks later the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, then another few weeks they won the Italian Open.

Winning the 2017 Atlanta Open, the Bryan brothers hope they can continue being that skillful and a bit lucky when they start the hardcourt season at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. They had their first title there in 2005, then with the next two years of 2006 and 2007. Bob and Mike had a draught of Citi Open titles with the last one coming in 2015 when they defeated Ivan Dodig and Marcello Melo in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. But this Citi Open may prove more challenging for Bob and Mike whose first round opening match will be with Nick Monroe and Jack Sock, a feisty duo who may present more of a scare to the veteran brothers team. They are starting their Washington run on a very optimistic note and hoping they can make ‘five times the charm’ in going for a swing at it in familiar territory.
