Jared Donaldson, USA

Age: 20 (10/9/1996)
ATP World Tour Ranking: No. 69
Race to Milan Ranking: No. 7
2017 W-L Record: 10-13 (2-3 in Grand Slams)

Jared Donaldson is one of two American players on this list of rising stars on the men’s tour. He’s a dynamic young talent who’s already moving up the ATP World Tour rankings, as well as a rare beacon of hope for a new generation.

Coming off of a quality run at Wimbledon in 2017, Donaldson is primed and ready to make a leap and become a consistently competitive player at the highest level.

Donaldson is still in the process of figuring out his game, but he’s already experienced a respectable amount of success. Thus far in 2017, he’s defeated the likes of Kyle Edmund, Paolo Lorenzi, Giles Muller, Diego Schwartzman, and Mischa Zverev.

Donaldson has also lost competitive matches against the likes of Ryan Harrison, Kei Nishikori, and Dominic Thiem—the latter of whom he played well in the third round at Wimbledon.

Donaldson’s trip to the third round at Wimbledon was his best performance at a Grand Slam thus far. He’s still rough around the edges, but the skill level is there for Donaldson to become a high-level player on the ATP World Tour.

There are other players worth considering for this list, but Donaldson is currently the highest ranked American player on the ATP Next Gen rankings.
