Roger Federer took time to welcome Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, to Instagram. Here’s what the Swiss superstar had to say.

Roger Federer has always been a fan favorite in the sport of tennis. Not only is he one of the greatest athletes to ever grace the court, but he is also a fantastic ambassador for the sport as well as other great causes off the court.

The Swiss superstar welcomed Bill Gates to Instagram. Gates joined the social media site just weeks after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also created an account.

Here’s a look at Federer’s introductory message to his friend and ‘playing partner’ Gates. The picture that the Swiss star included comes from a recent charitable tennis event. The Roger Federer Foundation sponsored their annual Match for Africa event in Seattle earlier this year.

Federer, who recently finished runner-up at this year’s Rogers Cup, is eyeing a third Grand Slam in 2017. The former world No. 1 kicked off his 2017 ATP World Tour by winning the Australian Open. Then, he went on to also win Wimbledon after taking time off during the clay court season. The 2017 French Open went to Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal.

Roger Federer now has 19 Grand Slam singles titles to his name.

This week, the Swiss superstar announced that he will be skipping the Cincinnati Open. The decision was made in order to rest and recover from recent action in Montreal. With Nadal ascending to the world No. 1 position in the coming days, he will likely be one of the players Federer is eyeing at the US Open. With the major tournament rapidly approaching, Federer must regain his health in order to make a run at the title.

There is no doubt that Federer will be looking to continue his fantastic year and end it on a high note.
