Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are reconquering men’s singles tennis in 2017. Both players have secured their spots at the season-ending tournament.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are a lock to headline the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London. With another US Open title in the books, Nadal has extended his lead over Federer for the number one position.

Defending champion Andy Murray has already announced that he is likely to miss the rest of the year in order to recover from injury. He may, however, participate in an exhibition also featuring Federer in November.

The path is wide open for Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in London this year.

Both players alternated Grand Slam wins on the men’s singles circuit. Now, they chase a win in London along with the year end world No. 1 ranking.

Federer and Nadal continue to break ground in the sport of tennis.

Third in the Race to London currently is #NextGenATP star Alexander Zverev. With five ATP singles titles on the year, he has burst onto the scene. He did see a disappointing early exit from the 2017 US Open, but Zverev has proven himself against top players throughout the entire season.

In fourth place in the Race to London is 24-year-old Dominic Thiem. The Austrian has reached his career high overall singles ranking of No. 7 and appears poised to lead the charge for a new era in men’s singles tennis. Federer and Nadal will need to contend with the likes of players such as Theim and Zverev at the ATP World Tour Finals.

Several top players such as Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, and Kei Nishikori are missing time due to injury. Their absence clears the path for either Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal or one of the up and coming stars in the sport. Stay tuned to see how the season-ending finals shapes up at the O2 Arena in London.
