Earlier this year, Ostapenko earned her first ever Grand Slam singles title. At just 20-years-old, the Latvian tennis star is now a French Open champion.

Garbine Muguruza took home her second career Grand Slam singles title at Wimbledon this year.

The 2017 WTA Tour has seen young stars such as Muguruza and Ostapenko make their mark on the sport of tennis.

Also into the quarterfinals is third seed Karolina Pliskova. She takes on Ashleigh Barty next at the Wuhan Open.

Muguruza is the current world No. 1 on the WTA Tour. She reached the semifinals last week in Tokyo and previously advanced into the fourth round of play at the 2017 US Open. Throughout her young career, she now has five WTA singles titles and seven ITF singles titles. Muguruza was the runner-up finisher at the Wuhan Open in 2015.

Ostapenko, on the other hand, won her second WTA singles title just last week. Taking home a win at the Korea Open, the rising tennis star is now the current world No. 10 on the WTA Tour. She is without a doubt a player to watch in the years to come. Thursday’s meeting between Muguruza and Ostapenko will be one of the highlights of this week’s tournament.
