Swiss Indoors Basel will be critical point for Roger Federer

Swiss Indoors action kicks off in roughly three weeks. It could be one of the biggest tournaments down the stretch for Roger Federer.
Swiss Indoors 2017 action takes place during the final week of October.
As Roger Federer contemplates which remaining tournaments he will appear in, action in Basel appears to be a lock. The Swiss tennis great has a record seven titles at the tournament featured in his hometown.

Rafael Nadal seems to have a lock on the year end world No. 1 ranking as of right now. It also appears that Federer seems unconcerned with the chase for the top ranking.
Currently, Roger Federer is the world No. 2 on the ATP World Tour and has five titles on the year, including two Grand Slams.
The 2017 ATP World Tour has already seen a different type of Federer. Despite his extreme success, the Swiss great has limited his playing schedule throughout the year.
If he does end up skipping any of the upcoming tournaments before the end of year finals, Federer has expressed that Basel will be a priority. Nadal will be another player to look for at the Swiss Indoors. With several of the top men’s singles players out for the rest of the year, players such as David Goffin could make a deep run in Basel.

Look for Roger Federer to make final decisions regarding his remaining tournaments in the coming days. His physical health will be the biggest consideration leading into the end of year finals in London. As of right now, he trails just Nadal in the Race to London rankings. Federer is a six-time champion at the ATP Finals while Nadal is a two-time second place finisher.
