Caroline Garcia makes a comeback in her final against Australian Ashleigh Barty. She survives to earn her first WTA Tour singles title on the year.

She completes a thrilling comeback over Australian Ashleigh Barty to earn her first WTA Tour singles title on the year. Garcia takes the finals meeting, winning 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Barty was on the verge of victory in the second set. She was not, however, able to seal the match in the two opportunities that she served for the match. The Australian tennis player is the current world No. 37 in women’s singles tennis.

Caroline Garcia now has plenty of momentum going into play at the 2017 China Open.

The Wuhan Open champion has a first round bye at her next tournament in Beijing. She faces the winner of Elise Mertens and Dominika Cibulková.

Look for Garcia to roll with her newfound momentum right into play at the China Open. The French tennis star is the current world No. 20 in women’s singles tennis. She will likely jump in the rankings even more if she can also make a strong run in Beijing. At just 23-years-old, Garcia is one of several young players making waves on the WTA Tour this year.

Caroline Garcia’s win at the Wuhan Open is her fourth career WTA singles title. She also has one ITF singles title and a doubles Grand Slam win at the 2016 French Open.

She is without a doubt a player to watch down the stretch in 2017. With an impressive field of players at the 2017 China Open, Garcia will need to be at her best yet again this coming week. Top players in the tournament include Garbine Muguruza, Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, and Angelique Kerber among others.
