David Goffin reaches Shenzhen Open finals, faces Alexandr Dolgopolov

David Goffin has another chance at his first ATP singles title in 2017. He faces Alexandr Dolgopolov at the Shenzhen Open.
David Goffin advances to the finals after defeating Henri Laaksonen in a three-set epic. Their semifinals match was much closer than most expected.
The world No. 12 managed to hold off Laaksonen, winning 7-6 (7), 5-7, 6-3. After a strong second set for Laaksonen, Goffin found his rhythm to close out the match and move into the finals.

Goffin faces Alexandr Dolgopolov on Sunday at the Shenzhen Open. Dolgopolov is the No. 5 seed this week whereas Goffin is the No. 2 seed. The Belgian tennis star should be the favorite to win.
Dolgopolov does have a 1-0 career record against Goffin.
In 2013, Dolgopolov defeated Goffin at the US Open. The Ukrainian tennis player is the current world No. 53 in men’s singles tennis. Earlier this year, he won a title in Buenos Aires.
The Shenzhen Open final is David Goffin’s third chance at a title on the 2017 ATP World Tour. He has a 40-18 singles match record on the year. The world No. 12 had not dropped a single set until his semifinals match with Laaksonen. He will need to bring his best tennis to the finals meeting with Dolgopolov.

Similar to Goffin, Dolgopolov has also been nearly perfect this week at the Shenzhen Open. He has dropped just one set to Dudi Sela in the quarterfinals before Sela retired in the third set. In the semifinals, the Ukrainian tennis player defeated Damir Džumhur 6-3, 6-4.
