David Goffin wins his first title since 2014. He emerges victorious at the 2017 Shenzhen Open, defeating Alexandr Dolgopolov.
David Goffin has broken his runner-up streak with a title win at the 2017 Shenzhen Open.
The Belgian tennis star is the current world No. 12 on the ATP World Tour. He defeats Ukranian Alexandr Dolgopolov in a three-set thriller to earn his first ATP singles title since 2014. It is his third career title.

Dolgopolov did not make it easy for Goffin at the Shenzhen Open. Both players were red hot this week at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament.
David Goffin defeats Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 to earn his first title on the 2017 ATP World Tour.
Now, the world No. 12 is eyeing the end of year ATP Finals in London. He moves into the twelfth position in the Race to London. Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have already secured their places in the end of year tournament.
With Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka out for the rest of the year, Goffin’s twelfth position can continue to rise in the Race to London. He is within striking distance of several players. The coming weeks will determine if he has what it takes to qualify.

The win at the Shenzhen Open earns David Goffin $118,910 in prize money. He also takes home the more critical 250 ATP Rankings points. Just behind Milos Raonic in the singles rankings, Goffin can continue to rise his position in the coming weeks.
While the runner-up finish is disappointing for Dolgopolov, it was another strong tournament for the Ukrainian tennis player. Earlier this year, he earned an ATP singles title in Buenos Aires.
