Juan Martin del Potro wins the 2017 Stockholm Open. The Argentinian continues his impressive year on the ATP World Tour.
Defeating Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, del Potro takes the finals meeting 6-4, 6-2.

Juan Martin del Potro is set to move into the fourteenth position in the 2017 Race to London. He will jump several places, improving his chances of qualifying for the year end finals. While nothing is set just yet, four spots remain open to round out the eight places.

Both del Potro and Dimitrov are contenders for the ATP Finals. Dimitrov is in the fifth position and has the best chances of qualifying while others such as del Potro will need to close out their remaining play more convincingly.
Two weeks are all that remain for players to earn their spots at the year end finals. That means that play in Vienna and Basel will be critical for everyone in contention. As for del Potro, even if he comes up short for the year end finals, his 2017 ATP World Tour resurgence is a positive sign for the Argentinian tennis star. Earlier this year, he reached the semifinals at Flushing Meadows during the 2017 US Open.

Those who have already qualified for the ATP Finals in London include Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev, and Dominic Thiem. The Argentinian extends his career head-to-head advantage over Dimitrov. Del Potro now leads their rivalry with a 6-2 singles match record. His experience shined this week at the 2017 Stockholm Open.
