Caroline Wozniacki secures her semifinals spot at the 2017 WTA Finals. The Danish tennis star dominates world No. 1 Simona Halep to advance.

Caroline Wozniacki displays yet another impressive performance at the WTA Finals.

After her opening match straight set win over Elina Svitolina, she advances past world No. 1 Simona Halep. The win secures her place in the semifinals this week in Singapore.

Wozniacki defeats Halep in straight sets, winning 6-0, 6-2. The dominant performance is vintage Wozniacki. Her 2017 WTA Tour has seen her earn one title to go along with a stelar 56-20 singles match record.

Caroline Wozniacki is a former runner-up at the WTA Finals.

Halep is not out of it yet. The world No. 1 faces Svitolina in her next match. A win would secure her place in the next round of play. Also still alive is Caroline Garcia who faces Wozniacki in her next match.

2017 could be the year for Caroline Wozniacki at the WTA Finals. Her season has been one of consistency. After reaching several finals, the former world No. 1 won a title in Tokyo. It would be her 26th career WTA singles title. She has not dropped a single set yet in Singapore. Wozniacki has also only given up a total of four games throughout her first two matches. Look for her to bring that momentum right into the semifinals.

The remaining group stage matches are critical for numerous players. With many still in the running to advance, there is no doubt that all will be feeling the pressure. Halep, just reaching the world No. 1 ranking recently, should be considered the favorite in her meeting with Svitolina.

Also hoping to advance is former world No. 1 Garbine Muguruza. She squares off with American tennis star Venus Williams. There is no shortage of drama at the 2017 WTA Finals Singapore. While it was a bit surprising how easily Caroline Wozniacki handled Simona Halep, don’t count the Romanian tennis star out just yet. She has had one of the best years on the WTA Tour and, like Wozniacki, is a former runner-up at the end of year tournament. Stay tuned to see how the action unfolds during the group stage.
