The 2017 Paris Masters is full of scenarios for the remaining contenders in search of an ATP Finals bid. Here’s a look at Lucas Pouille and Juan Martin del Potro’s chances.

The 2017 Paris Masters sets up a number of scenarios that will impact play at the ATP Finals in London.

With two spots remaining, several top players in men’s singles are vying to qualify. Vienna Open title winner Lucas Pouille is now in the mix along with others such as Juan Martin del Potro. Both players will need to win a title in Paris in order to have a chance.

Pouille defeated fellow countryman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the Vienna Open finals. The loss to Tsonga slightly hurt his own chances of qualifying for play in London. Now, Pouille can win the biggest title of his career and take the final spot.

Juan Martin del Potro can qualify for London with a win at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris.

The Argentinian tennis star has skyrocketed in the singles rankings since his deep run at the 2017 US Open. He is now in the hunt for what would be his fifth time at the ATP Finals.

Del Potro has plenty of experience and can make a run in Paris this week. Others such as Tsonga and Pouille, however, will be gunning for their own spots. Currently, David Goffin and Pablo Carreno Busta sit in the final two spots for the ATP Finals in London.

Carreno Busta has faded as of late while Goffin has remained impressive in his previous few tournaments. After winning the Japan Open, Goffin also reached the semifinals last week at the Swiss Indoors. The Belgian was an alternate at last year’s finals in London. He ultimately replaced Gael Monfils but did not advance through the round robin stage. There is no doubt that he would like another shot at the year-end tournament in London.

As it stands now, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will headline play at the 2017 ATP Finals. Nadal is also chasing the year-end world No. 1 ranking this week at the Paris Masters. Look for him to be a strong contender in Paris and then in London as he seeks his first ever title there. Stay tuned to see if Pouille, del Potro, or others can pull the upset in Paris and earn their spots in London. Check back for updates on all of the action this week at the 2017 Paris Masters.
