The former world No. 1 must remain in California for the time being while the custody battle continues. It is a disappointment to not see her in the Fed Cup final, but it seems that Azarenka will be ready to go for the 2018 WTA Tour.

Victoria Azarenka made an impressive run at Wimbledon 2017.

With limited time between the birth of her son Leo and actual competitive play, the former world No. 1 reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon. She eventually fell to Romanian tennis star Simona Halep. The Romanian is the year-end world No. 1 on the WTA Tour.

Azarenka is a fan favorite on the WTA Tour. As a former world No. 1 and two-time Australian Open winner, fans would love to see her back and competing for a full calendar year. In her absence, players such as Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams have made a resurgence on tour. The 2017 WTA Tour even saw the comeback of Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova.
