Grigor Dimitrov: Bulgaria’s best in men’s tennis making waves

Grigor Dimitrov has burst onto the scene in men’s singles tennis. The Bulgarian tennis star is wrapping up a fantastic year on the 2017 ATP World Tour.
Grigor Dimitrov is now the world No. 6 on the ATP World Tour.
The Bulgarian tennis star has reached the highest ranking of his career amidst a season where he’s hoisted three titles and made his ATP Finals debut. Among his titles this year is a Masters 1000 from play in Cincinnati.

Along with his win in Cincinnati, Dimitrov claimed glory in both Sofia and Brisbane this year. His 44-19 singles match record so far is among the best on tour, earning him a well-deserved place in the ATP Finals in London.

2017 has also seen the Bulgarian’s best runs at both the Australian Open and the French Open. Reaching the semifinals at Melbourne Park, he would fall to runner-up Rafael Nadal in a five set thriller.
Dimitrov must be considered a contender for a Glam Slam singles title on the 2018 ATP World Tour. His major tournament experience has only grown over the past year. Having previously won three ATP titles in 2014, Dimitrov matches the accomplishment in 2017 and tags multiple big tournament runs on top of it. To date, he is the only Bulgarian tennis player to crack the ATP Top 10 rankings. Look for his success to continue in early 2018.

Grigor Dimitrov cruises into the semifinals at the ATP Finals with a straight set victory over David Goffin. The Bulgarian defeats Goffin in dominant fashion 6-0, 6-2. His strong start at The O2 Arena is no surprise given the year he has had. Dimitrov is a player to watch in the next round of action in London. He joins Roger Federer in the semifinals.
Elsewhere at the 2017 ATP Finals in London, year-end No. 1 Rafael Nadal withdraws due to injury. After falling to Belgian’s David Goffin in his opener, Nadal is replaced by Pablo Carreno Busta. He will aim for a strong recovery and should bounce back in early 2018. Six-time men’s singles champion Roger Federer remains the favorite to win the ATP Finals this year.
